Face Your Waste

Mindarie Regional Council manages waste for seven WA local councils and their facility was filling up. Quickly. We needed to get people to reduce their waste, for both environmental and economic reasons.

The thing is, people don’t usually have to confront the amount of waste they produce—once it’s in the bin, it’s out of sight and out of mind. This initiative changed that. We took regular household bins and rebuilt them with transparent plastic, forcing people to face their waste.

The campaign reached 2 million people in a State of only 2.5 million people. And more importantly, 95% of people who used our bin said it reduced the amount they threw away.
